Larrakia Nation is Darwin and Palmerston’s leading Aboriginal service delivery agency and the largest local Aboriginal employer. We’re not just for Larrakia, we treat all Aboriginal people equally at our services and offices. Together with specialist organisations, we can generally assist you and your family.

Our staff are mainly Aboriginal people from the local community, or with strong links to the local community. If you’ve got a problem, chances are we’ve been there. We know what is “culturally appropriate” because we know our culture and do things the Aboriginal way. We’re committed to doing things in your space and working together to deal with the issues. We work in community groups where possible, but we are also committed to privacy and individual discussions.

We have a Customer Complaints Policy to protect you. If you think we have done the wrong thing, please fill in a Notification of Incident Form and we will investigate. Need support for an elderly person in your family?

They may be eligible for our home care assistance for frail aged. To begin the assessment progress, please contact Community Services on 8985 6811 or agedcare@larrakia.com. If they have already been assessed as eligible for care they can be put on our waiting list or directly into a free spot if it is available. Would like regular delivery of nutritious meals?

Larrakia Nation offers healthy, cooked meals delivered directly to your door five days a week with a meal pack delivered on Fridays for the weekend. Payment is via Centrepay and can be part of an aged care package or is can be stand alone. Want assistance with some issues to do with your tenancy?

If you are behind in your rent or worried you might be evicted, Larrakia Nation’s Tenancy Support Program can work through your tenancy problems and advocate on your behalf with your housing manager. If you would like some assistance please call 8985 6811 or tenancysupport@larrakia.com.

We also sell power cards.

Are a client of ours and need transport to an appointment?

We run a twice daily community bus between our offices from Bagot, via Nightcliff to Casuarina and back. If you need some other transport, you will need to contact the program directly that is working with you.

Want to get a Larrakia photo ID?

Turn up at our Casuarina Office next to Centrelink between 9am and 3pm. You don’t need your birth certificate, but if you do have it this will speed up the process.

Are worried for the safety of yourself or someone else at night?

Then call our Night Patrol for free on 1800 101 645. If you are in a life-threatening situation you should call emergency services on 000.

Are a young person and need a lift home at night?

We can give you a lift home with our bus, who you can call up via our Night Patrol on 1800 101 645. We also visit youth centres around Darwin and Palmerston.

Are looking for a job?

You can view our vacancies available with details of how to apply. If you don’t see something that fits your skills and interests, then we encourage you to volunteer with us until something comes up. We also work closely with a number of Aboriginal employment agencies and we also encourage you to get in touch with them. A list of these agencies is available here.

Want to sell some art or become part of our talent directory?

Then we are keen to hear from you. We work with a wide range of Aboriginal people doing art, carving or have skills from traditional dance to DJing. Enquire about  joining our talent directory online or you can contact our Cultural Knowledge Unit on cku@larrakia.com or 08 8948 3733.

Most of our services for Aboriginal residents for Darwin and Palmerston are run out of our Community Services division. If you don’t see what you are looking for here, have a chat to them. There may be another way we can help or we can refer you to someone else who can help.

Want to book some travel or accommodation?

Then you need to come visit our Return to Country Office in Casuarina. You need to have no outstanding debt with us, and be willing to sign up to pay us back over time using Centrepay. Our office is located next to Centrelink Casuarina and is open between 9am and 3pm.

Need some help during the day?

Then you should call our outreach services. we do work with long-grassers during the day, offering a breakfast, shower, and a chance to work through some of the issues such as getting a return to country booking. The best way to contact these guys is through our administration office on 8948 3733.
