Donna Jackson

Donna holds a diploma in Applied Science: Natural & Cultural Resource Management – from Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education (BIITE).

Work with Larrakia Nation

Donna is currently a Cultural Enterprise Worker at Larrakia Nation, after being employed as the Women’s Senior Ranger for Larrakia Nation’s Rangers program. She also presents cross-cultural training. Past clients include Leighton Contractors and Australia Red Cross. Donna has been a Larrakia Nation Board member for a number of two-year terms.

Cultural & Environmental Conservation

Donna worked for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Parks & Wildlife Service NT, Research Associate with the School of Advanced Indigenous Knowledge Systems at Charles Darwin University. Donna also lectured in at the Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education (BIITE) in Natural & Cultural Resource Management, and was a consultant for CSIRO documenting indigenous knowledge about major Top End Rivers, and assisting with a report on Northern Territory Aboriginal Ranger groups. She also finalised negotiations and established the Top End Aboriginal Conservation Alliance (TEACA).

Community work

Between 2010-2012 she was a member on the Indigenous Ecological Knowledge Assessment Panel for the North Australian Indigenous Land & Sea Management Alliance (NAILSMA), based at Charles Darwin University. From 2007 2013, Donna was co-chair of the Australian Nuclear Free Alliance (ANFA), an Aboriginal lead anti-nuclear movement, supported by green NGOs and participating Aboriginal organisations/individuals.
