Kenbi Dancers

This short video begins with a segment of a Welcome Country Speech by June Mills and then shows the Kenbi Dancers in action.

The Kenbi Dancers are from the Belyuen community – across Port Darwin from the city of Darwin, on the eastern side of Cox Peninsula (128 km by road from Darwin). They perform traditional welcome dances, singing and dancing . Approximately four women and four men are accompanied by two musicians playing clap sticks and didgeridoo.

Anne Moreen, Elder from Belyuen also gives a speech explaining the significance of the dances and songs.
